I’m Shelby Madden, a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist (C-SLDI) through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI). I have more than 28 years of experience with K-2 classroom instruction, literacy intervention, and K-6 instructional coaching.

Reading and writing difficulties are teachable with the right levels of support and that’s what motivated me to develop WORD.  I live for those light-bulb moments and identity shifts that come when a child finally understands how words work.

My approach is diagnostic and individualized, grounded in the science of reading and shaped by ongoing observation of how children learn to read and write. My experience also includes Reading Recovery certification through San Diego State University, which makes me uniquely qualified in observing student reading behaviors and tailoring lessons for “just-in-time” levels of support.
